Catching up with some photos. This was the centennial bike ride Tom did a couple of weekends ago. He rode with our friend Laurie who bowled on our team and is a great cyclist. They had done a couple of rides before but nothing like this! They rode 100 miles stopping occasionally for water, gatorade, bananas and peanut butter and honey sandwiches the organizers had set up at stations. They finished in 6 hours and 20 minutes which is apparently great for a first timer!
Yesterday (Mother's Day) after church we had breakfast then headed back to The Waters for Tom to take another swim. Only this time he started at the end of the lake and swam further than the 300 yards in the Sprint. In fact, he swam right past the "get out" area and went clear across to the other side. I played with Floyd (the dog) on the lawn while keeping an eye on his bobbing head. He was trying to guesstimate the 1 and 1/2 miles that the swim portion will be in the half-tri next weekend. Because I was driving it, it was hard to tell so we still don't have a good sense of how far it actually is. Hmmmm.
To wrap up Mother's Day we called one of the other guys from school whose wife is out of town so he could go to dinner with us. Hit the Mexican joint down the street then strolled a bit to walk off those hateful calories. Also, spent the day making a fleece blanket for an upcoming baby shower and got to talk to my mother as well as to those to whom I am a mother. Hope everyone had a Happy Mother's Day!
