Friday

Our friend Lauren from book group is having a baby.  She has been trying for some time so this is an exciting blessing.  She didn't tell us for a long time then very casually mentioned it as we were walking in to see Hunger Games last month.  Erin put together a french themed brunch shower with quiche, croissants with Nutella, cheese, omelets, cookies, fruit, petit fours, lemonade, french press coffee & Perrier. Heavenly!

Lauren is very funny and very open about the fact that she knows nothing about babies.  She had no idea what she needed but she got a lot of wonderful things.  Being around all this baby stuff this year I'm SO impressed with how much cooler things are than back when I was having babies.

The rest of the day was spent running errands and getting ready to take off for Florida as soon as Tom was finished with school.  I got Floyd ready to take to Boarding The Ark where he is spending the weekend, however they apparently take a 2 hour lunch break so they didn't reopen until 2:30, thus setting our departure back a bit.  We finally got away around 3pm and other than the toll booths that we had no cash to pay for (whoops) we had an uneventful trip and arrived at The Green Gables Inn around midnight.  A lackluster air conditioner in our hotel room led to a rather hot, sweaty night and the mattress was too soft for Tom's back so he slept on the floor.  Fortunately we were very tired so none of it really mattered.
