Organizational Day

Friday was Organizational Day at Fort McNair so we went in early so Tom could get some work done then went out to participate in the games and festivities.  We were signed up to participate in several things but they ended up having plenty of people so we got to walk around the base and check it out. The base is surrounded by water, in fact the Potomac and the Anacostia meet there.

The streets with the Officers Housing are beautiful

The National War College is located here

Went inside the Officer's Club to check it out.  The walls are covered in these murals

This is also where the conspirator's accused of Lincoln's assassination were executed.  Including Mary Surratt, who was the first woman ever executed under federal orders.  Check out the movie The Conspirator which was really interesting.  Great cast and directed by Robert Redford.

The Nat-Mobile was there and they were giving out all kinds of goodies.  We are set to go to our first game!
We were supposed to vote on our favorite bike.  More showed up after this and they were pretty cool!

Me and some new friends in the VIP seats on the chopper

Tom and I did compete in the horseshoe competition.  But we lost.  Bummer.
There was some line dancing going on along with softball, volleyball, a dunk tank and a great lunch!
