Day 2

We spent the first night in Wyoming then headed toward South Dakota and Mount Rushmore.  On the way though we saw a sign for the Crazy Horse Memorial though and pulled over.  At first we were mortified at the $28 fee per car but once we got inside, saw the film and heard how this one family has basically donated their lives to getting this thing done, we were happy to have made the donation.

How it will look when it is finished

Fortunately there was a lot to see because there was a HUGE rainstorm that trapped us inside for quite a while
When it finally stopped long enough for us to retrieve the car we headed toward Mount Rushmore where the storm had moved into covering the thing in clouds!  We drove around a bit stalling and waiting for it to clear but it didn't look that was going to happen anytime too soon.  We finally settled for this photo of Washington's profile which you can barely see above the middle tree.  Grrr.
We found this puzzle at Wall Drug a couple of hours later so we pretended this is what we had seen.
Wall Drug is an awesome place with tons of food, shopping and fun stuff to see.  We were starving by this time so we indulged in a yummy roast beef dinner with all the fixins!  Man, it was good!

Oh great!  Now they are all over the place!

 This isn't a real jackalope......

We were doing a combo GPS/map navigation system but just turned off when something caught our fancy.  Like the Badlands.  Cool!  Like looking out over another planet!

There was one sections called Prairie Dog Town.  This photo does no justice to how many prairie dogs there actually were.  Hundreds!  Little prairie dog heads just sticking up all over the place for miles.  Kinda creepy.

And antelope, deer and big horn sheep.....

There was a light rain than ended with the most gorgeous sunset that night.  We weren't the only people pulled over on the highway trying to capture it!
