DC Temple

Lest it sound like I ran mom and dad ragged while they were here, we did take some down days and just hang around the apartment.  I had them help me with some family history so I can take the info I gathered from Tom's family to add into what we've already done of ours.  Sometimes we ran errands, did some diet cherry coke runs for dad, swam, had some serious Racko, Mah Jong, and Domino competitions, watched Nats games on tv and actually let them relax.  They are great houseguests!

We did find another day to make it to the DC Temple which is so gorgeous.

Mom took some names in while dad and I waited in the lobby then we went into the visitor's center and met a couple of cute sister missionaries.  We watched a film which had several actor friends I know in it then we walked through the rest of the center.  Relaxing and peaceful.

Ferry Home

On the way out of town we stopped to check Tom's mom and dad's headstones.  They had fixed Eleanor's so her name was spelled correctly and got it back in.  They both looked nice.
I wanted mom and dad to see Cape May with all it's charming homes and we thought since we were going to do that we should take the Cape May-Lewes Ferry across to Delaware.  We've always wanted to do but never had.  We made our reservations for 2:30 which gave us time to explore along the boardwalk a bit.

We got to ferry terminal in enough time to have lunch before we got on.  So we dropped our car off for them to load then went inside to eat.

Lunch was just okay and that's the ferry you can see in the background

The weather was great for sitting up on deck then we went inside to check it out.  Looked around in the gift shop then sat in the recliners and promptly had a nap!
Found our way back to our car as we neared land and finished the drive home.  When we got their our last box from the fruit of the month club from Kristen Moore's parents had arrived.  Yummy cherries!

Beach Day!

We were going to get a beach day in if it killed me so finally we had a nice day (all the fireworks had postponed from the 4th of July) so we hurried and did some yard work around Marie's for her then headed to Atlantic City.

We had to walk through Caesar's to get out to the boardwalk.

                                                       I hijacked some dude's stage

Just so happened they were hosting the Sand Sculpting World Cup so we got to see some amazing things!

The diving horse from the old steel pier

After we saw the sculptures we went into Trump Plaza to find the Whitehouse Sub shop.  Supposed to be the best ever but we decided we still like Vic's better.

We had our lunch, sat on the beach, played in the water, people watched, baked in the sun and relaxed.  All my favorite things!

                                                             Look!  It's the ocean!!!!
We were there for several hours so thought we deserved some Rita's yumminess on the way home

And of course we had to stop and show mom and dad Lucy the Elephant!

Happy Birthday Tom!

This is what a newly-turned 60 year old on a blow up mattress looks like!
I had made arrangements with Marie ahead of time to let me do a little family birthday party while we were there.  Dennis & Kathy came along with Mike and Nicole and 2 of the little ones.  Their other kids were with their other parent.  We spent the day getting ready and discovered a little flood in Marie's basement.  Everyone pitched in to get it cleaned up in a hurry.

Mikey and Lacey

Yeah, they're not vegan....they're real and really good!
It was all very low key.  Just dinner and visiting.  Kathy brought this cute cake for Tom and Marie had made his favorite blueberry pie.  It was nice just to spend the time together.

Dennis, Karen & Sean had another bbq they had to be to but we stopped in for a quick visit and photos.
